Day 5 - Sea to Skyscapes

I am late posting day 5, actually I didn't get a day 5 done because I have been getting ready for my upcoming exhibit From Sea to Skyscapes at Very Ventura Gift Shop and Gallery in Ventura, California. So I decided to post the front and back of the invitational postcard for day 5. I will be showing with the talented Shannon Celia!

8x10" Pastel

I finished this a couple of weeks ago or at least I thought I did! I got it back out and cropped it from a 9x12" to an 8x10" and worked on it a little more, I definitely am more happy with it now!

A Little Still Life for Day 3

Decided to do something different for me for day 3 of the 30 in 30 challenge. I don't remember the last time I did a still life but I really enjoyed this one. I think there may be more in the future!

Day 2 - Last Evenings Sunset

Just finished Day 2 of Septembers challenge! Had a lot of fun with this one because I tried to not over think it. This was inspired by the sunset I witnessed last night as I took my daily walk.

30 Paintings in 30 Days, September 2017 - Day 1

So excited to be doing the 30 in 30 challenge this September 2017! I am off to a fun start with one of my favorite subjects....the sky! This is a 6x6" oil on Ampersand gessobord, I use brushes and an occasional palette knife for highlights. Will come back and name later....still thinking.

The sky always reminds me of God's infinite power and glory.I guess that is why I like to paint it so much.

An Underpainting and a Little Adjustment

This is a little 9x9" pastel on UArt paper that I started and finished yesterday. I don't always use an underpainting with my pastels but I decided to do one for this piece. I started with a loose watercolor underpainting and then when that dried I added a layer of clear gesso just for a little more texture in the flowers and grasses. This also started out as a 9x12" but just didn't look quite right so I cropped it square and it felt much better.
